DIVERSITY, EQUITY, INCLUSION & ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT

Tisch New Theatre aims to create a theatre community that is rich in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility. We create art with the intention of reflecting all demographics of NYU’s exceptionally diverse student body, from the content we choose to develop, the production team and cast we hire, and the individuality of all our artists. As a company, we strive to advocate for the needs and interests of all of the members of our community and ensure that everyone has a seat at the table.

In our day-to-day practices as an organization, we strive to create an atmosphere of respect and collaboration in rehearsals, meetings, and productions. We celebrate all artistic approaches and methods, and strive to learn from each other with the goal of creating relevant theatre. We acknowledge that DEIA is an ongoing process and not a one-time commitment, so we hold ourselves accountable by checking in frequently with our team and creating an environment where constructive feedback is not only listened to but encouraged.

We are committed to making performances and rehearsals accessible to all participants, from the actors on stage to the production and creative team, to the audiences. We create a culture in which accommodations, however large or small, are listened to and respected. We strive for accessibility in all marketing materials, doing our best to adhere to WCGA Level A guidelines. We aim to work with audiences to make performances as accessible as possible.

At Tisch New Theatre, we believe that theatre is telling stories for all, and we strive every day to uphold these values that create an environment where everyone can create and be valued.
